The aim of rehabilitation is to bring back full or as much function as possible to the affected area within a given time frame.

Following most orthopaedic surgery, rehabilitation involves exercise to increase muscle mass, soft tissue strength and flexibility and throughout the process physiological change is continuous. Whether for bone repair, ligament, tendon or muscle healing, the key to the process of healing is the supply of oxygenated blood for repair and for waste removal.

Using THERMOTEX infrared daily, or better still twice daily for 30 to 45 minutes, in isolation or in conjunction with an exercise programme is reported by many patients and physicians to give more positive treatment outcomes than when no heat is used.

THERMOTEX CAN BE USED OVER STRAPPING & CASTS

As a waveform Thermotex can be used over casts or strapping since the FAR infrared waves pass through into the body without burning or drying the skin. Conversely the effectiveness of conductive heat sources is very limited since the strapping material acts as insulation thus inhibiting a vasodilatory response.

It is possible to use different heat modalities however the majority are palliative since they are conductive heat sources. Thus they are not able to increase temperatures deep within the tissue and are not hot enough for any sustained period to have a lasting effect.

Thermotex is highly effective, safe and importantly very easy to use. This makes it far more likely that a patient will use it, particularly if the patient is given a calendar to record when and for how long they use Thermotex. You can combine the record calendar with an instruction to record activity and have them show this form to you or their therapist at follow up. No-one will want to come with a blank form!
